although与though的区别和用法

一、用作连词,表示“虽然”，两者大致同义，可换用，只是 although 比 though 更为正式：

Though [Although] it was snowing，they went there. 虽然下着雪，但他们还是去了那儿。

Though [Although] they’re expensive, people buy them. 虽然它们很昂贵，人们还是买。

二、两者均可用于省略句，通常见于主句与从句主语相同，且从句谓语含有动词be的情形。如：

Although [Though] (it was) built before the war, the railway is still in good condition. 尽管是战前制造的，这铁路仍然处于良好状态。

Although [Though] (he is) still young ，he is very famous. 尽管他还年轻,他却是个名人。

三、用作副词,though 可用作副词，且一般放在句末(不放在句首)，意为“可是”、“不过”，although 一般不用作副词。

It’s hard work; I enjoy it though. 工作很辛苦，可是我乐意干。

He said he would help me；he didn't ,though. 他说他会帮我，但是他并没有帮我。

四、在 as though(好像，仿佛)，even though(即使，纵然)等固定短语中不能用 although：

Mother closed her eyes as though she were tired. 妈妈闭上双眼，仿佛很疲劳似的。

He treats me as though I were a stranger. 他对待我就好像我是个陌生人一样。

We will make a trip even though the weather is bad. 尽管天气不好，我们还是会去旅行。

四、用于倒装

though 引导的让步状语从句可用部分倒装的形式(注意：倒装后位于句首的名词之前不用冠词)，但 although 一般不这样用：

Successful though he is, he is not proud. 他虽然成功，但不骄傲。

Child though she was, she did quite well. 她虽是孩子，但干得很好。

五. 汉语“虽然……但是……”的表达习惯不适用于他们，不能在 其后连用 but。如：

虽然我相信这点，但还是要考虑看看。

误：Although I believe it, but I must consider.

正：Although I believe it, I must consider.

但是若需要表示强调时，其后 可与 yet, still 等副词连用。如：

Though he seems happy, yet he is worried. 虽然他看起来很幸福，但他实际上很烦恼。
